CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS OF TEXT STRUCTURE IN AUDREY LORDE’S POEM, ENTITLED POWER

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the text structure particularly the microstructure in Audrey Lorde’s poem entitled Power. The study employs a descriptive qualitative method. Researchers collect data by searching, downloading, reading and classifying the microstructure element contained in the poem. At the microstructural level, the study reviews semantic, syntactic, stylistic and rhetorical elements. The result of the study exposes a deep understanding of how the poem constructs its narratives and messages through the element of analysis. This study contributes to literary understanding and text analysis, strengthening appreciation of the power of language in the poem. Overall, this study provides in-depth insight into how the poem communicates its messages through various elements of analysis, enriching our understanding of the power of language in literature.
